Look you gotta understand, we started this gig in 2002. Technically before that. After the dot com bubble popped, there were a bunch of writers from a site called Themestream (paid a nickel a click on your article) that went bust who were looking for a new digital hangout, which led to The Swamp, an online literary ‘zine, and as well, The Amityville House of Pancakes humourous genre mag. At that time, the ebook world was the wild west – there were as many different formats as there were cell phone chargers. MS Reader, Palm, Mobipocket (which became Kindle eventually), OEB (open ebook, which became ePub), even PDF.Thinking outside the books? These are all books! What gives?
CGP was started with an eye toward all these formats, and also focussed on novellas, the red-headed stepchildren of publishing. We did some chapbooks, (so passé) and even experimented with a couple audiobooks.
Hence the slogan – so while it may not be completely accurate anymore, it still sounds cool.
At any rate, we’re still dedicated to putting out weird, satirical, and genre-defying fiction that traditional publishers routinely pass on. And other projects (see Blood & Tacos, Moreauvia).
Enjoy the weirdness.
